The Cité internationale des Arts in Paris, a residential and studio complex run by a foundation, houses 270 artists’ studios in a large building on the banks of the Seine and in the adjoining buildings. In the 1990s, the VdDK*1844 acquired the right to allocate two studios, and manages a third. Each year, 17 artists who are members of the association have the opportunity to live and work in these studios.
During a three-month residency funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia, I developed photogram collages featuring exotic plants from Parisian gardens. The works explore human interventions in the movement and spread of plants, as well as the paths plants find for themselves.
